- ↑ Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 21, stated that it was the beginning of December the day that Harry had a Care of Magical Creatures lesson and then spoke to Dobby. It was at least two days before the next Friday when Hagrid had arranged an interview. It's not stated that it's Wednesday or how much time passed but then it was Thursday. Then Professor McGonagall announced the Yule Ball and Harry says that "a week ago" he dreaded facing the dragon but now he thinks that's easier in comparison to finding a partner. The first task took place on 24 November. But seven days after that was 1 December and at least one day in December had went by before the Thursday. It's only makes sense if Harry was speaking in general terms and that the Thursday was the 2 December, and the day he spoke to Dobby was Wednesday 1 December.

- ↑ 58.0 58.1 58.2 In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 22, Harry says it's the final week of term. It takes place in the middle of December every year. The chapter then goes from Monday to Thursday. Then it's Friday, the final day of term. He then explains in Chapter 23 that the next week was the the lead-up to 25 December. If you start by working back 7 days from the fixed date of 25 December, then you get the 19 December and that had to be a Saturday because the final day of term was stated to be on a Friday which had to be Friday 18 December. That means the final week took place from the 13 - 18 December which matches the fact it had to be the middle of December.
