Algie is a wizard, and the great-uncle of Neville Longbottom. He is married a woman called Enid. He only appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
Algie's great-nephew, Neville Longbottom was suspected of being a Squib by Algie, Enid and Augusta Longbottom. Determined to find out if Neville had any magical talent, Algie hung him out the window by his ankles and accidentally dropped him because Enid gave him a meringue. Neville bounced down the garden to the road and proved he was a wizard.[1]
Algie was that proud of him when he was accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that he gave Neville his pet toad, Trevor.[1]

- It is unknown what side of Neville's family Algie is on. He is Neville's great-uncle. For that to be possible, he has to be a brother of Augusta Longbottom or her husband on his father's side. However, he could be on Neville's mother's side.
