The annual broom race is a race on broomsticks that takes place in Sweden. It is first referenced in Quidditch Through the Ages.
Every year, fliers gather in Kopparberg, Sweden and race to Arjeplog. The course is just over three hundred miles and involves flying through a dragon reservation. The award is a big silver trophy shaped like the Swedish Short-Snout. The race was started in the tenth century and has grown into an international event. Spectators gather in Kopparberg and then Apparate to the finishing line in Arjeplog to cheer the survivors.[1]
