Argus Filch's office is a room in Hogwarts Castle. It appeared in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
About[]
Argus Filch was a caretaker who had a tiny room in Hogwarts Castle. It had an oil lamp hanging up near the ceiling[1] and filing cabinets with report notes of various issues usually caused by students.[1][2] There was a cabinet called "Confiscated and Highly Dangerous".[2] Filch kept chains in the office which were once used by the school to punish students. He kept these polished.[1]
History[]
In 1989 to 1990, Fred and George Weasley were taken to the office to get punished when they let a Dungbomb go in the corridor. They saw Filch's "Confiscated and Highly Dangerous" cabinet, causing George to drop a Dungbomb to give Fred a chance to open the drawer and grab anything that was in there. He took the Marauder's Map.[2]
In 1992, Harry Potter was taken there by Filch to get a detention form for dropping dirt in the corridor. Before Filch could get it, Nearly Headless Nick caused a distraction and in the time was gone, Harry found a Kwikspell letter. Filch was shocked and embarrassed to discover what Harry found, and let him leave without detention.[1]
In early 1994, Professor Lupin found a Boggart living in one of Filch's filing cabinets.[3]
