About[]
Astronomy is taught to every student from the first year until at least the fifth year when they take O.W.L.s. In their sixth year, the student has the option of continuing their study of Astronomy for their N.E.W.T.s if they achieve a high enough pass grade during their O.W.L.s.
It is taught in the evening or at midnight when it was best to view the night sky. The student studies the night skies through telescopes. In the first year, students learn the names and locations of the stars, constellations and planets and study the movement of the planets.[1] Before starting Hogwarts, they have to purchase their own telescope.[2]
