Bluebell Flames are a charm with an unknown incantation. It creates a bright blue light. It was seen throughout the Harry Potter book series.

The spell produces a bright, blue light with a wand and an unknown incantation.[1] It provides light and warmth and it is possible to keep it confined to a small jar.[2] It isnalso used to damage things by putting the light on a target[2][1], and proves useful against a Devil's Snare.[1]

History[]

In 1991, Hermione Granger created a small bluebell flame and kept it in a small jam jar. It kept her, Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley warm when they were studying on the school grounds. Hermione later put Bluebell Flames around the hem of Professor Snape's cloak.[2] In 1992, she used it by putting it on a Devil's Snare in the Underground chambers.[1]
