British and Irish Quidditch League is a professional Quidditch League with thirteen teams that compete for the League Cup. It is first referenced in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
About[]
The League has thirteen teams who compete every season for the League Cup. The Dangerous Dai Llewellyn Commemorative Medal is an award given at the end of every British and Irish Quidditch League season to the player that took the most exciting and foolhardy risks during a game.[1]
History[]
The British and Irish Quidditch League was established in 1674. With the need to limit to number of games that take place every year to prevent discovery by Muggles, the Department of Magical Games and Sports chose fourteen teams to join the League and disbanded the others. One was later disbanded (Banchory Bangers) after breaking the rules. The Montrose Magpies have won thirty-two League Cups, the most out of every team.[1]
In the summer of 1992, the Chudley Cannons were ninth in the League.[2]
