Harry Potter Books Wiki

Chocolate Frogs are very a popular confection in the wizarding world. In every box is a random trading card portraying famous witches and wizards. They appear throughout the Harry Potter book series.

Overview[]

Chocolate Frogs are very popular in the wizarding world but not for the actual chocolate. Witches and Wizards enjoy colleting the trading cards found in them.

Harry Potter was introduced by them by Ron Weasley on his way to his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Ron preferred eating the chocolate over reading the cards. At that point, Ron already owned around five hundred of them. Harry wondered whether the chocolate was a real frog. After getting to know the wizarding world, he didn't think he have found it very shocking.[1] In December, Hermione Granger sent Harry a large box of Chocolate Frogs for the holidays.[2] Harry worked out who Nicolas Flamel was by looking at Albus Dumbledore's Chocolate Frog Card.[3]

In his third year, Professor Lupin provided Chocolate Frogs to Harry when they had anti-Dementor lessons. Chocolate helped when he had been affected by a Dementor's Kiss.[4]
