The Common Welsh Green is a type of dragon native to Wales which appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

About[]

Found in Wales, the green dragon is able to blend into the grass of its home. They live high up in moutains where there is a reservation to help preserve the species. They breathe a flame of thin jets and feed mainly on sheep. They avoid humans unless provoked and cause less trouble than any other dragon. Its roar is very recognisable and melodious. They lay eggs that are an earthy colour with green spots.[1] It is one of only two dragons native to Britain and Ireland, the other being the Hebridean Black.[3]

History[]

The only known unfortunate incident involving the Common Welsh Green was in 1932 when a rogue dragon descended upon a busy beach in Ilfracombe. The only wizarding family at the beach saved the day by fending off the dragon and performing the largest ever batch of Memory Charms in that century.[4]
