Cornelius Fudge is the fourteenth chapter of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Events[]
Harry tells Hermione and Ron about Tom Riddle holding Hagrid responsible for opening the Chamber of Secrets the first time. But in hope the attacks had stopped because the last time it happened was in December, the three decide to keep their knowledge secret and don't mention anything to Hagrid.
It was now nearly April and Harry gets back to the common room to find it ransacked and Tom Riddle's Diary taken. The next day Hermione worked something out and run to the Hogwarts library to research. Harry heard a whispering voice again but he and Ron head to the Quidditch pitch for an Inter-House game. Professor McGonagall cancelled the game because someone else was Petrified.
The school goes into lockdown. Professor McGonagall takes Harry and Ron to the Hospital Wing and tells them Hermione was one of two students Petrified, the other being Penelope Clearwater. She was found by the Library holding a mirror. This proved Harry wasn't the Heir of Slytherin because he wouldn't hurt a friend even if he was. Harry and Ron thought it was time to speak to Hagrid.
Because the school put everybody under constant supervision, Harry and Ron have to use the Invisibility Cloak to get to Hagrid's Hut. Before being able to speak to Hagrid properly, Harry and Ron have to hide because Cornelius Fudge and Professor Dumbledore had to speak to Hagrid. Fudge announced he had to take Hagrid to Azkaban because the Ministry of Magic finally have to take action and do something. Hagrid was accused the first time and even Professor Dumbledore could save Hagrid by supporting Hagrid's innocence.
Lucius then showed up to speak to Professor Dumbledore and announced the Board of Governors had signed an Order of Suspension. He was henceforth sacked and even Cornelius Fudge couldn't do anything. Hagrid thought Lucius had threatened everybody in the Board, but Dumbledore gracefully accepted it and announced he won't be truly gone when those continue to be loyal to him, and help would be given at Hogwarts to those who ask.
Hagrid was being led out by Fudge when he confused and shocked Fudge by shouting to Harry and Ron, if anybody was looking for answers, they should "follow the spiders".
