Diagon Alley is the fifth chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
Events[]
Harry wakes up believing that he had dreamed about finding out he is a wizard. However, he discovers Rubeus Hagrid sleeping in a chair and an owl is tapping on the window. He finds out new things about the magic world and the places they will be shopping at that day. They head to the Leaky Cauldron after breakfast where the celebrity of being the Boy Who Lived begins to dawn on him.
In Diagon Alley, they collect money at Gringotts and then begin shopping. While he is in Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, Hagrid pops out to buy him his first owl, Hedwig. Harry meets Draco Malfoy while he is waiting for him to return, who he considers even worst than Dudley Dursley. Draco tells him that some wizards are better than other before insulting Hagrid when he returns. Harry tells Hagrid what Draco was telling him but he says to pay no attention to what he was saying.
The final place they shop is Ollivanders where Harry is chosen by a Holly and Phoenix feather wand. Garrick Ollivander tells him it is curious because it has a feather taken from the same Phoenix that Voldemort's wand core is made from. Harry confides in Hagrid that he is worried about starting Hogwarts because everyone expects amazing things from him and he feels ordinary. Hagrid toldtells him he shouldn't worry about other people's expectations. He informs him he needs to be at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters on the first of September.
