Dobby's Reward is the eighteenth chapter of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Events[]
Harry Potter is taken to Professor McGonagall's office where Professor Dumbledore is with Arthur and Molly Weasley. Harry tells everyone the story about how he had found the Chamber of Secrets and killed the Basilisk. Dumbledore finds Tom Riddle's Diary curious and says Ginny will not be punished because she was enchanted by the Diary. He awards Harry and Ron 150 points each and a Special Award for Services to the School.
Dumbledore speaks to Harry on his own, telling him that he is able to speak Parseltongue because the evening Voldemort tried to kill him, the Dark Lord transferred his powers to Harry. Lucius interrupts with Dobby, revealing he is the owner of the house-elf. He is angry that Dumbledore has broken the rules of his suspension by returning. Dumbledore tells Lucius that the Board of Governors have admitted that Lucius threatened them into signing the Order of Suspension and he is now reinstated. He and Harry imply that they know he is responsible for the Diary getting to Ginny and he is forced to leave in shock.
Harry follows them and gives the Diary back to Lucius. It has a sock in it which Lucius throws. Dobby catches it which frees him from Lucius, who tried to attack Harry for costing him his house-elf. Dobby uses magic to throw Lucius back and he flees. Dobby is grateful to Harry who tells Dobby never to try and save his life again. By the end of the year, Lucius is sacked and the Petrified, including Hermione, are revived. A huge, special feast is held that goes on into the night. Hagrid is sent home from Azkaban and it was announced Lockhart is leaving his teaching position to go to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries for memory loss. The summer holidays begin.
