Dragon-Breeding for Pleasure and Profit is a book about dragon-breeding. It is outdated when Rubeus Hagrid borrows the book in the Hogwarts library. He was trying to learn from the book about how to care for a dragon egg and what the egg of each dragon looks like.[1]

About[]

The book has sections about dragon eggs, the development of a dragon, an A-Z of dragon ailments, essential equipment (e.g. a dragon harness) and talon-clipping. One known dragon it includes is the Portuguese Long-Snout.[2]

History[]

It was likely published before 1709 when the Warlocks' Convention banned dragon-breeding.[1]

Rubeus Hagrid borrowed the book from the Hogwarts library after he received the egg of a Norwegian Ridgeback, to learn how to look after it.[1]
