Emeric the Evil is a character in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Emeric is a Dark wizard notorious for terrorising the south of England in the early Middle Ages. At one point, he had the Elder Wand but his possession of it was short-lived and he was slaughtered in a duel by Egbert the Egreious.[1]
The life of Emeric is taught in History of Magic to first year students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. However, Harry Potter confused him and Uric the Oddball because Professor Binns had the tendency to drone on.[2]
