The Entrance Hall is a room in Hogwarts Castle. It is entered through an oak door which is the main entrance to the school. It led to both the Great Hall and a marble staircase through which students and staff could find their way to the rest of the school. It appeared throughout the Harry Potter book series.
About[]
The front of entrance of Hogwarts Castle has large oak doors which open up into the Entrance Hall, a cavernous room with two floors. The room is very large and made of stone with has a very high ceiling.[1][2] In the center of the room is a marble staircase.[2] The Entrance Hall contains four hourglasses which keeps track of the House points earned by the school houses.[1]
The lower floor has several doors. One leads to the Great Hall, a second to the Dungeons and a third leads to an empty chamber. A fourth door opens up into a corridor that goes to the kitchen corridor and then the Hufflepuff Basement.[1] The upper floor balcony leads to the rest of the school.[1][3]

Trivia[]
- In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 12, it's stated that there was a suit of armour near the kitchens, but it does not say whether it was at the door to the kitchen corridor (putting it in the Entrance Hall), or whether it was actually in the kitchen corridor.[4]
