Erumpents are a large, grey beast with a large, sharp horn on its nose and a long, rope-like tail. Its horn is capable of piercing everything including metal and has a deadly Exploding Fluid which will inject into anything its pierces and cause it to explode. They weigh up to a tonne and have a thick hide which can repel most charms and curses. They give birth to one calf at a time.[1]
Native to Africa, they do not attack unless they are provoked. When they charge, the attack is usually catastrophic due to their lethal horn. African wizards approach the creatures with great caution. The males will attack each other during the mating season and are capable of piercing and exploding each other, which is why Erumpent numbers are quite low. Their fluid, along with its horn and tail, are used in potions. These are Class B Tradeable Materials.[1]
