A fake wand is a joke product that Fred and George Weasley created their own version of for their shop, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.

About[]

The fake wand resembles a real one until it is picked up and used to try and produce a spell, at which point it will turn into something else like a giant rubber mouse with a loud squeak.[1]

History[]

After creating their own version of the product, Fred and George Weasley left some around the Burrow. Their mother, Molly Weasley, picked one up more than once. She made the mistake while she was preparing dinner one evening and shouted at the twins to stop leaving the fake wands lying around.[1]

When the twins placed a bet on the final of the 422nd Quidditch World Cup final, they offered Ludo Bagman a fake wand in addition to thirty-seven Galleons, fifteen Sickles and three Knuts. Ludo thought it was the best fake wand he had seen in years and was roared with glee when it squawked and turned into a rubber chicken. He priced the wand at five Galleons and added it to their bet.[2]
