The Griffin is a wizarding beast which appears in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
About[]
Griffins have the body and hind of a lion and the front legs and head of a giant eagle. They are fierce and often used by witches and wizards to guard treasure. They eat raw meat. Griffins have been befriended by a handful of skilled wizards.[1]
History[]
Before the International Statute of Secrecy, griffins were known to exist in the Muggle world and often appeared in their art and literature. After the Statute, the International Confederation of Wizards has stringently hidden griffins and so they are now understood to be fictional in the non-magic world.[2]
