Policies |

The User Policy outlines the rules and guidelines pertaining to a user's user page and profile. While a user should keep in mind that their user page is not meant to be their main focus on Harry Potter Books Wiki, they do play an important role in introducing themselves to the rest of the community. Users are therefore encouraged to create a user page that gives some information about themselves and represents what they bring to the wiki. For example, users may wish to list their favorite characters, highlight specific editing contributions they are proud of, indicate future projects they hope to work on.
Rules[]
- Users can only have one user page. Users cannot create secondary accounts to host multiple user pages (read Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry). However, users can create subpages of their user page to accommodate personal projects. Users can request to have their user page and subpages deleted at any time.
- A user page should not be a user's primary contribution to the wiki.
- The username, profile and profile picture have to be family-friendly. Therefore, there should be no content of an inappropriate nature including but not limited to swearing, links to illegal websites or spam.
- Non-user categories outside of user categories cannot not be added to user pages or subpages. Particularly, users have to take care not to add article-specific categories to project subpages.
- No user may edit another user's user page or subpage without their permission, unless it is an administrator removing links to deleted pages or files.
- Fan-fiction is not encouraged but can be written on a user's own profile page. It should not be their primary contribution. Users who wish to work on fan-fiction will be directed to the Harry Potter Fanon Wiki.
- User talk-pages can be archived if they get too long. Read the Talk-page Policy for further details.
User images[]
- No more than 3 images should be uploaded which are intended solely for a userpage or customized signature. This means images that are also used on articles are not included.
- User images must be tagged with the {{user-image}} template.
- Users with no editing contributions after six consecutive months are considered inactive and will have their user images deleted.
User Rights Policy[]
If a user would like to gain a user right at the Harry Potter Books Wiki, please apply here. Editors need to have been active for at least six months with 2000 edits. They need to have shown a good understanding of our Policies and have been helping to enforce them. Please read the Fandom Bot Policy if you would like a Bot account. An admin can give a user extra rights without a vote if they think they have a good candidate. Please read the Harry Potter Books Wiki:Voting Policy to find out about our voting process. A vote will be a democratic process with the option that has the highest vote winning. Rights will be taken away if they are abused or the user has been inactive for three months.
