The Voting Policy outlines a democratic process for users to propose and carry out changes to the community's policies, its pages and user rights. It also requires a level of activity in order to participate in a vote.
Eligibility[]
To vote, users need to reach this criteria:
- Have at least 100 edits in the mainspace.
- Actively contributed for at least three months.
- After being temporarily blocked, a user cannot vote until one month has passed since it ended.
- Sockpuppet votes are ineligible.
Users who do not meet this criteria will have their votes stricken from the vote by the administration.
Voting process[]
- A user should first propose a change or apply for user rights in the appropriate place.
- To propose a change, the user should first open a discussion on the relevant talk-page.
- To apply for user rights, they should open a discussion at Harry Potter Books Wiki:Request user rights under the role they are hoping for. Refer to the Harry Potter Books Wiki:User Policy#User Rights Policy for eligbility.
- After seven days of discussion, an admin will open a vote if feedback supports a change by placing {{Vote}} on the page.
- Users should vote by declaring whether they are For or Against it.
- The vote will take place over seven days, unless issues are brought up during the process. A vote or discussion can be extended or closed earlier if needed.
- A vote by an ineligible user will be struck off by an admin.
- The vote is considered successful if at least seven people vote and the majority are in favour of it by a margin of three votes.
- It can only opened, tallied and closed by an admin.
- If a proposal does not get voted for, it cannot resubmitted for three months.
