The Hebridean Black is a huge dragon that can grow up to thirty feet in length. It is one of the native dragons of Britain where it lives in Scotland. It appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
About[]
The Hebridean Black is very large and can grow up to thirty feet in length. They need a territory that is at least a hundred square miles. They have rough-scales, brilliant purple eyes and bat-like wings. Short, razor-sharp ridges go down its back and its tail is tipped with an arrow-shaped spike.[1]
They feed mainly on deer but it is known to eat large dogs and cattle. The dragon is one of only two native to Britain and Ireland, residing in Scotland but it is far more dangerous than the Common Welsh Green.[3][1]
History[]
The wizarding MacFusty family, who have lived in Hebridean for centuries, are responsible for managing the dragons.[1]
In 1814, the Scottish Quidditch team, Banchory Bangers tried to capture a Hebridean Black to make it their mascot. They were apprehended by the Department of Magical Games and Sports over Inverness and were disbanded.[4]
