Harry Potter Books Wiki

Mr and Mrs Granger are the Muggle parents of Hermione Granger. They are both dentists and very proud of their daughter. They first appear in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Toward the end of the Second Wizarding War, Hermione changes their memories to protect them and they forget they even have a daughter. During that time, they are called Wendall and Monica Wilkins and live in Australia.

Biography[]

Mr and Mrs Granger both worked in dentistry. They had their only child, Hermione Granger in September 1979.[1] During her childhood, Mr and Mrs Granger took her camping to the Forest of Dean.[2] Around the time of Hermione's eleventh birthday, they found out that she was a witch and that she was accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was a surprise to the family, but they were very proud.[1][3]

In the summer of 1992, they had to purchase new books for her second-year at Hogwarts. They were introduced to the Weasley family at Gringotts, and Arthur Weasley was fascinated by the currency they were exchanging for wizarding currency. He then invited them to go the Leaky Cauldron for a chat and an hour later, they headed to Flourish and Blotts. During Gilderoy Lockhart's book signing, Lucius Malfoy and Arthur argued, and Lucius glanced at them in contempt and scorned Arthur for being in their company. Mr and Mrs Granger watched their fight apprehensively, and were shocked and frightened by what they saw. They parted ways at the pub later that day.[4]

In the summer of 1993, they took Hermione to holiday in France. They agreed to let her stay at the Leaky Cauldron for the evening of 31 August, because Harry and Ron were staying there.[5]

Trivia[]

  • Mr or Mrs Granger have to have had a Squib ancestor in order for their daughter, Hermione to be a witch.
