Hogwarts Express is a train in the Harry Potter book series. Schedule[]

Hogwarts Express by Andrew Davidson
Every year on 1 September, the train departs Platform Nine and Three-Quarters at 11am.[1] If the train is missed, an owl should be sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. If a student is going home for Christmas, they had to book a place on the train in mid-December.[2] The train brings these students back about fourteen days later.[3] It also takes students home for Easter every spring.[4] In June, the train takes students back to King's Cross for the summer holidays.[5]
At lunch time, a trolley is taken to each compartment by an employee. The children could buy food and drink including pumpkin pasties, chocolate frogs and cauldron cakes.[6]
Appearance and layout[]
The train is a large scarlet steam engine. It has one long, small corridor adjacent to named compartments. For example, the Slug Club was held in Compartment C. Prefects had their own compartment at the front of the train.[6]
History[]

Dementor attacking Harry
In September 1993, Dementors stopped the train and searched it for Sirius Black. A Dementor found Harry Potter's compartment and attacked him with the Dementor's Kiss even though Remus Lupin told it that Black wasn't on the train. The train was very cold, and students taking it were scared.[7] Draco Malfoy had been in a corridor and run into Fred and George Weasley's compartment to hide.[8]
