These characters appear in the Harry Potter book series. They are the Muggle parents of Petunia Dursley and Lily Potter, and the grandparents of Dudley Dursley and Harry Potter through their daughters' marriages to Vernon Dursley and James Potter. They both passed away by the time of Lily's death.
Biography[]
Mr and Mrs Evans had two daughters, Petunia and Lily Evans. Lily was born in January 1960. They family lived in Cokeworth. When Lily was eleven, they found out that she was a witch and they were proud to have a witch in the family. However, Petunia thought Lily was their favourite child because they often mentioned Lily and her achievements, which hurt Petunia. She was bitter and jealous of Lily, calling her a freak.[2]
In September 1971, they took Lily to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters when she went to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for her first year.[3] Both Mr and Mrs Evans passed away by 31 October 1981 of a "normal Muggle death"[4]. It's unknown whether they attended the two weddings of their daughters, Petunia to Vernon Dursley and Lily to James Potter, or if they ever knew their two grandchildren, Dudley Dursley and Harry Potter.[5]
In December 1991, Harry found the Mirror of Erised and when he looked in the mirror, he saw Mr and Mrs Evans among the Evans family and Potter family. He wanted to see the family that he had never known.[6]
