Lycanthropy is a blood-borne disease transmitted through a bite. The afflicted human is cursed to transform into a werewolf every full moon.[1]

Lycanthropy occurs when a werewolf in their wolfish form bites a human during a full moon. The salvia will mingle with and contaminate their blood. It is a very painful condition unless it is treated which can include drinking a Wolfsbane Potion every month. However, the afflicted will suffer sickness and pallor a few days before and after a transformation. A bite or scratch by a werewolf when it isn't a full moon will not turn the victim into a fully-fledged werewolf, but they will possess a scar and develop some traits like a craving for raw meat.[1]
