Biography[]

Early life[]

Marcus Flint was born to the wizarding Flint family in between 1 September 1975 and 31 August 1976. He was sorted into Slytherin House, suggesting he was at least half-blood.[2] He could be related to Ursula Black (née Flint).[3]

In September 1987, Flint began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Slytherin. He joined the Slytherin Quidditch team in the role of Chaser at an unknown point, and he was Captain by the fifth-year in September 1991. Flint was known for being a very unfair player who fouled other players in order to win. Even Rolanda Hooch kept an eye on him, warning him to be fair.[2]

Philosopher's Stone[]

In 1991, Flint shook Oliver Wood's hand very aggressively during their first game of the year. Harry Potter thought he was trying to break Wood's fingers. He unfairly blocked Harry during the game and he was given a warning for it. A Bludger knocked Flint in the face, but he managed to open the scoring for Slytherin.[2]

He took advantage when Harry's broom was bucking by encouraging the Slytherins to keep scoring goals when no-one was looking. However, Harry later caught the Golden Snitch in the mouth instead of the hand, winning the game and upsetting Flint. He complained to Hooch for at least twenty minutes, saying that Harry had not won the game because he had not caught the Golden Snitch properly. However, it didn't change anything and he had to take the defeat.[2]

Chamber of Secrets[]

In September 1992, Flint accepted a bribe off Lucius Malfoy to get seven sets of Nimbus 2001s. Lucius wanted to get Draco the role of Seeker. Flint booked the pitch to train Draco at the same time that Gryffindor thought they had booked it. They had to forfeit the pitch because Flint had a special note off Professor Snape to grant priority to Slytherin.[4]

They started arguing, and Draco then called Hermione Granger a "Mudblood". He had to bodyblock Fred and George Weasley when they wanted to fight Draco. Flint howled in laughter when Ronald Weasley's curse bounced back and he was throwing up slugs. He had to hang onto a broomstick for support.[4]

During the first game of the year, Flint shook Oliver's hand aggressively again and gave threatening stares. Slytherin took an early lead when Dobby's rogue Bludger chasing Harry and Beaters Fred and George couldn't defend the Chasers or Keeper. However, Draco failed to notice the Snitch even though it was flying right by him, and Harry won the game by catching it. Flint was very angry at Draco and shouted at him when the game ended.[5]

Appearance[]

Flint is said to look like he has troll blood.[2]

Notes and sources[]

  1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 11, says that Flint was a fifth-year. Even though the original version stated Flint was a sixth-year, he was in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban when he should have graduated. J. K. Rowling explained it away in an interview by saying he had to take the year again, but then decided to change the books to say he was a year younger instead.
