The Oakshaft 79 is a vintage broomstick created by Elias Grimstone.[1]

About[]

The broomstick had a very thick oaken handle designed for endurance and withstanding high winds. However, it was also quite heavy and did not turn well at high speeds. It was favoured by fliers who value safety.[1]

History[]

The Oakshaft 79 was invented by Elias Grimstone in 1879. However, the stylish appearance of the broom didn't match its power. With a heavy weight affecting its ability to turn, the broomstick did not appeal to Quidditch players who preferred agility. However, those who valued safety were interested in the broomstick.[1]

In 1935, Jocunda Sykes garnered the broomstick some level of fame when she flew on it during the first ever broom crossing of the Atlantic ocean. It is now a highly prized vintage broom.[1]
