Oblansk is a wizard and character in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He is the Bulgarian Minister for Magic.
Biography[]
After the Bulgarian National Quidditch team reached the final 422nd Quidditch World Cup, Oblansk attended and watched from the Top Box wearing black robes trimmed with gold. He accompanied Cornelius Fudge, the British Minister for Magic, but he could not apparently speak a word of English and they struggled to communicate with each other. Fudge also struggled to pronounce Oblansk's name and called him "Obalonsk".[1]
Fudge introduced Oblansk to Harry Potter and tried his best to convey that he was the boy who survived Voldemort. Oblansk realised when he saw Harry's scar and started excitedly pointing at it and gabbling. Fudge also tried to introduce Oblansk to Lucius Malfoy but gave up on trying to make Oblansk understand. At the end of the final which saw a Bulgarian loss, a disappointed Oblansk revealed that he could actually speak perfect English. Fudge asked why he lied and Oblansk told him it was funny. They shook hands with the Bulgarian and Irish players together.[1]
