An Obliviator is an occupation in which someone is employed to carry out Memory Charms for the British Ministry of Magic. This is typically performed on Muggles who have witnessed something magical and needs to have their memory changed to uphold the International Statute of Secrecy.[1]

About[]

A team of Obliviators is needed in very serious cases.[2]

History[]

Arnold Peasegood was an Obliviator for the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad.[1]

During the 422nd Quidditch World Cup, the British Ministry of Magic sent Obliviators to work in the campsites where they had employed Muggle site managers. There was a rule against using magic and witches and wizards were expected to blend in. However, they frequently broke the rule or did not understand how to dress and behave like Muggles, which caused Muggle site managers like Mr Roberts to repeatedly get suspicious about the nature of the event. The Obliviator that was keeping an eye on him had to perform the Memory Charm on the particularly perceptive Mr Roberts up to ten times a day.[1]
