Olive Hornby is a character in the Harry Potter book series. She is a witch who is attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in June 1943. When she laughed at Myrtle Warren because of her glasses, she ends up running into the Basilisk that kills her. Olive is haunted by Myrtle for the rest of her life.
Biography[]
Olive had at least one sibling, a brother.[3] At the age of 11, she was accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and began attending in or before September 1942. Olive was one of the students who bullied Myrtle Warren and laughed at her because of her glasses.[4]
In June 1943, she cruelly teased her and caused Myrtle to hide in a room concealing the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. She was killed in the next two hours by a Basilisk.[4] Headteacher Professor Dippet sent Olive to find the missing Myrtle who was now a ghost. The ghost found it funny when Olive was shocked and scared by finding her dead body.[3]
Olive was haunted by Myrtle for the whole of her life, even when she graduated Hogwarts. She showed up during her brother's wedding and Olive had to go to the Ministry of Magic to get help. Unfortunately for Olive, she was haunted until she passed away prior to February 1995, something Myrtle was proud of. [3]
