Ollivanders is a wand shop in the Harry Potter book series. It was founded in Diagon Alley in 382 B.C. by the Ollivander family, who are thought to be the best wand-makers in the world.
About[]

Ollivanders was a narrow building that had gold letters above the door which stated, Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC. In the window was a wand on a faded purple cushion, and a bell would ring when the door was opened. It was very small, having just one chair and many narrow boxes piled up to the ceiling.[1] A worker measured the buyer when they arrived and found out whether they were right or left handed. They were given different wands to try before they were "chosen" by the right one.[1]
History[]

Harry Potter and Ollivander in 1991
The shop was founded in 382 B.C.. In or before 1938, Garrick Ollivander inherited the business. Tom Riddle purchased a wand from him. Ollivander remembered every wand he had ever made and who purchased it.[1] Rubeus Hagrid, Lily Potter and James Potter also bought their wand here. In July 1991, Harry Potter purchased a holly and phoenix feather wand for seven galleons.[1]
In August 1993, Ron purchased a new wand.[2]
In July to August 1996, Garrick was kept captive by Voldemort who wanted to find out why he and Harry couldn't fight properly using their wands. The shop was boarded up until the Second Wizarding War ended. The last wand purchased before Garrick went missing was probably a cherry and unicorn hair wand by Neville Longbottom.[3]
