Percival Dumbledore is a character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He is a wizard, the husband of Kendra Dumbledore and the father of Albus, Aberforth and Ariana Dumbledore. He is sentenced to Azkaban for attacking the Muggles who hurt Ariana.
Biography[]
Percival married the muggle-born witch, Kendra Dumbledore in the later half of the 19th century and they had 3 children together: Albus, Aberforth and Ariana.
When Ariana was six, she was hurt by 3 Muggle boys who saw her using magic and was upset when she was unable to show them again when they asked. Ariana was left traumatised and no longer had no control of her magic. Percival was very upset by what happened and hunted the boys, and attacked them.[2]
The Ministry of Magic sentenced Percival to Azkaban because he would not tell them why. He wanted Ariana to stay at home rather than go to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries because she was a danger to the International Statute of Secrecy, which led to the idea that Percival hated non-magic even though he had married a woman from a muggle family. It also led to the idea that Ariana had no magic and that was why Kendra kept her in the house when she moved them to Godric's Hollow. Their neighbours had no idea of what Percival had done.[2]
Percival was said to have died when he was in Azkaban[3], in or after 1890, and by the summer of 1996 when Albus had wanted to use the Stone to speak to a deceased Percival, and apologise to him. Kendra never spoke of what happened, and neither would Albus or Aberforth. When Albus died in June 1997, a book and many articles was wrote about the family.[4]
Appearance[]
Percival is said to be a "good-looking man" with the same kind of eyes his son Albus has.[4]
