Perenelle Flamel is a character in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. She is the wife of the famed alchemist, Nicolas Flamel. After her husband invented the Philosopher's Stone that granted him the power to create the Elixir of Life, he used it to extend both their lives.
Biography[]
Perenelle was born in or prior 1332. She was the wife of Nicolas Flamel.
Nicolas was a very successful alchemist who invented the Philosopher's Stone. From that, he was able to produce the Elixir of Life. For seven centuries, he and Perenelle drunk the Elixir that had granted them eternal life. Nicolas and Perenelle eventually went to Devon and lived a very quiet life.[4]
However, in or prior to the summer of 1991, Albus Dumbledore knew that Voldemort was probably going to try and steal the Stone. In June 1992, Nicolas and Perenelle have permission for the Stone to be destroyed, and had enough of the Elixir to grant them time to get their affairs together. They passed away prior to September 1996. Dumbledore thought it would feel like they went to sleep after a very long day.[2]

- ↑ In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 13 which is set in 1992, Hermione Granger finds a book that says that Perenelle is 658 years old at the time of its publication. It's unknown when that book was published but it is said to be an "old book". She has to be at least a few years older than that at the time Hermione finds the book.
