Platform Nine and Three-Quarters is a magically-concealed platform of King's Cross Station. The platform is for students needing to board the Hogwarts Express to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry every year and where they travel to for their school holidays. The train leaves every 1 September at 11am. It appears throughout the Harry Potter book series.
History[]
The platform is through a wall in the middle of platforms 9 and platform 10 in King's Cross Station. The wall has a ticket box they run through. On the other side, there is an iron archway. It has signs reading "Platform Nine and Three-Quarters" or "Hogwarts Express, 11 o'clock". The steam train makes smoke drift over the head of those on the platform.[1]
The first time Harry Potter had to get the train on the platform, he mentioned the location to Vernon and Petunia Dursley. They thought he was crazy because King's Cross Station hascno such platform in the Muggle world. When they dropped him off at the station, they drove away and laughed at him out the car window. He eventually found the platform with the help of the Weasley family. Neville Longbottom lost Trevor on the platform while Lee Jordan had a spider in a box for everyone to look at. Fred and George Weasley helped Harry put his suitcases on the train and told Molly Weasley they knew who he was. Everyone boarded the train by 11am.[1]
