Prior Incantato is an incantation which reveals the last spell that a wand has cast.[1]

By casting this spell on a wand, the device will produce "the ghost" of the last spell it produced. This will appear in a thick gray smoke like a mere shadow. To vanish the result, the spell Deletrius is used.[1]
History[]
After the wand of Harry Potter was discovered at the scene where a Dark Mark had been cast, Amos Diggory used to this spell to find out if it had produced it. When it did in fact show this, he removed the smoky skull with the spell Deletrius.[1]
