Quadpot is an American wizarding broomstick sport, a variant of Quidditch, which appears in Quidditch Through the Ages.
About[]
Each side has eleven players who throw the ball, called the Quod, to each other to try and get it into the "pot" at the end of the pitch. The ball designed to explode within a time frame. Any player holding the Quod when that happens has to leave the pitch. The pot is a small cauldron with a solution to neutralise the ball. The scorer's team is awarded a point. A new Quod will then be brought onto the pitch.[1]
History[]
Quodpot was invented by Abraham Peasegood in the eighteenth century. Peasegood was playing with a Quaffle that he had brought with him to the New World. During the journey, his wand poked the Quaffle. When he arrived in the New World and took the ball out to throw around, it exploded in his face. Peasegood then recreated the effect on other leather balls, after which he and his friends developed a new game with the ball, which they called the "Quod".[1]
The sport has enjoyed some interest in Europe, but it is considered a minority sport. In the United States of America, it is more popular than Quidditch. Quodpot is also popular in South America.[1]
