Riddle was the surname of a Muggle family in the Harry Potter book series. They lived at Riddle House in Little Hangleton.
History[]
In the early twentieth century, a Riddle married a woman with whom he had one son, Tom. They were a very wealthy family. The Riddles lived in Little Hangleton in a manor house for quite some time before 1925. They were not popular in the village because they were snobby and rude. They had a gardener, cook and a maid.[1]
In August 1944, they were having dinner in the dining room. Their house was broken into by Tom Snr.'s estranged son, Tom Jnr. who killed them with the Killing Curse. Their bodies were discovered the next day by the maid. The gardener, Frank was arrested for their deaths but the police couldn't prove he did it. The doctors who investigated their bodies couldn't find evidence they had been hurt whatsoever, and so to the Muggle world, it looked like they died of fright judging by the looks on their faces. They were buried in the little Hangleton graveyard.[1]
