Mr Roberts is a character in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Biography[]

Mr Roberts was a Muggle who was a site manager. He had a wife and two children.[2]

During the 422nd Quidditch World Cup, his campsite was used by witches and wizards attending the event nearby. Mr Roberts was put to work on the field but did not know anything about the wizarding world and was put under a Memory Charm if he noticed anything unusual about the event. Roberts was particularly perceptive and had to be put under a new Memory Charm up to ten times a day. He was surprised by how many bookings his campsite suddenly had because it was never that busy and people usually just showed up.[1]

He was the manager of the first field from the Apparition point about a mile away. When witches and wizards were directed there, he was waiting at its doorway when Arthur, Fred, George, Ron and Ginny Weasley, and Hermione Granger and Harry Potter arrived. After greeting them, he checked Arthur's booking details for two tents and requested payment.[1]

Arthur had to pay in Muggle money and needed Harry's help to find the right notes to pay with. Mr Roberts was curious about Arthur's confusion and asked if he was a foreigner. He told them they weren't the first to have trouble with paying and remembered one person trying to pay with Galleons. He had also noticed Basil's unusually choice of clothes and did not understand what event they were actually gathering there for. Nearby was an Obliviator keeping an eye on him. Upon noticing Roberts's curiosity and perception of the event was growing, he stepped in to Obliviate him and he returned to looking relaxed and unbothered. He gave Arthur a map of the campsite and his change.[1]

After the game, the campsite was attacked by Death Eaters. With his wife and children, Mr Roberts was strung up in the air with magic like puppets on invisible strings. They struggled while their attackers contorted their bodies into grotesque shapes. Upon fleeing the scene, the Death Eaters dropped the Robertses out of the sky who were caught by Ministry officials before hitting the ground. They had their memories altered shortly after.[2]

The next morning, he was dazed and waved the visitors goodbye from his cottage with a "Merry Christmas". Although he did not remember what had happened the night before, his memory alteration left him disorientated for a while.[3]
