The Runespoor is a serpentine beast in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.[1]

About[]

The Runespoor is a three-headed snake which grows up to seventy-two inches. They are livid orange with black stripes and looks intimidating. However, the Runespoor is not particularly vicious. The head on the left is the planner which decides where the Runespoor goes and what it does. The middle head is the dreamer which can get lost in its imaginations and cause it to stay stationary for days. The right head, which has very venomous fangs, is the critic that will evaluate what the others are doing by hissing continuously. They often fight with each other which has typically resulted in the snakes suffering early deaths. It is not unusual for two of the Runespoor heads to band together and bite the right head off.[1]

The snake is the only creature that produces eggs through its mouth. They have the ability to stimulate metal agility which makes them very valuable for their use in potions. Runespoor eggs and the serpent have been a popular product on the black market for centuries. They used to be a favourite pet of Dark Wizards. The ability of Parselmouths to speak with Runespoors has led to a greater understanding of their curious ways through their writings.[1]

History[]

Its bright colouring makes it very easy to spot and have been seen often by Muggles, which has resulted in the Burkina Faso Ministry of Magic designating special Unplottable forests only for the Runespoor.[1]
