The Swelling Solution is a potion in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The potion causes the target to swell in size. It is created using puffer-fish eyes.[1]

History[]

Swelling Solution

Effect of the Swelling Solution

In December, Harry Potter and other second years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry were learning how to brew the solution during Potions. Harry's potion was too runny. Hermione Granger needed to sneak into the private store-room and steal ingredients for a Polyjuice Potion. To help her, Harry set off Dr Filibuster's Fabulous Wet-Start, No-Heat Fireworks and threw it into the air. When it landed in Gregory Goyle's potion, it showered the students nearby.[1]

Those affected had to drink a Deflating Draught to reverse the swelling, including Draco Malfoy's nose which swelled up like a balloon, Goyle's plate-sized eyes, and others with heavy arms and puffed up lips.[1]
