The Burrow is the home of the Weasley family near Ottery St Catchpole.
About[]
The house was a stone pigsty when Arthur and Molly Weasley purchased it. They added extra rooms when their family grew, transforming the pigsty into a crooked house that is several storeys high and has to be held up with magic. The house has at least four chimneys perched upon a red roof.[1] The Burrow is connected to the Floo Network.[2]
Near the entrance is a lopsided sign bearing the words The Burrow. Chickens are kept in the yard which also has a gnome infestation.[1] There is also an orchard.[3]
Layout[]
The ground floor has a small kitchen, a wooden table and chairs. There is a clock which, instead of displaying numbers, points to chores that need to be done.[1] The kitchen has a mirror that tells the viewer what they need to do to have a tidier appearance, such as telling them to tuck their shirt in.[2] There is door leads to a narrow passageway and an uneven staircase.[1]
There are five floors and an attic. The second floor is where Percy Weasley's bedroom is located.[4] At the top, on the fifth floor, is Ronald Weasley's bedroom which has a sloping ceiling. It is rather untidy and decorated in the colours of the Chudley Cannons.[1] The attic has a ghoul that howls and knocks on the pipes if the inhabitants are being too quiet.[2]
History[]
Early history[]
In the summer of 1992, there were wellington boots and a very rusty cauldron near the front door. The garden had a gnome infestation which kept returning even after it had been de-gnomed.[1]
