The Forbidden Forest is the fifteenth chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
Events[]
Filch takes Harry and Hermione to Professor McGonagall. Draco and Neville, who has snuck out to warn them Draco knows what they are up, are also with her. She believes they lied to Draco about Norbert and Neville heard it. She gives the four detention after they get 50 house points each taken away. Three of the houses are upset in the morning because it puts Slytherin in the lead for the House Cup.
Later, Harry hears Professor Quirrell supposedly being threatened. He tells Ron and Hermione and they agree Snape is threatening him and that he is going to try and steal the Philosopher's Stone soon. Hermione tells Harry to tell Professor Dumbledore but he points out they need proof.
Professor McGonagall tells Harry and Hermione they will serve their detention at eleven that evening. Filch takes Harry, Hermione, Neville and Draco to Hagrid who needs their help finding a missing unicorn in the Forbidden Forest. He takes the four to unicorn blood and says something had previously killed another unicorn. He puts them into two groups: Draco, Neville and Fang in the first group, and Hagrid, Harry and Hermione in the other. Hagrid, Harry and Hermione encounter centaurs Bane and Ronan but they are unhelpful. Draco scares Neville who sends red sparks up in the sky for help. Hagrid switches Neville with Harry. Draco requests Fang to walk with them on their own. They eventually find the dead unicorn but a cloaked figure is drinking it's blood. Draco and Fang run away but the figure heads towards Harry until Firenze saves him. He implies to Harry that the figure is Voldemort drinking the unicorn blood to sustain his bodiless life form until he gets the Philosopher's Stone.
Back at school, Harry tells Ron and Hermione what happened. He believes Voldemort has sent Snape to get the Philosopher's Stone. Hermione tells Harry that so long Professor Dumbledore is at the school, he is safe.
