The Polyjuice Potion is the twelfth chapter of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Events[]
Professor McGonagall takes Harry to Professor Dumbledore's office. For a minute, Harry is on his own and he met Fawkes for the first time. He talks to the Sorting Hat and asks if the Hat was right when it considered putting him in Slytherin. The Sorting Hat stands by its comment that he "would have done well in Slytherin".
Fawkes dies leaving Harry worried that he will also be considered responsible for it but Dumbledore tells Harry it is part of a natural life cycle for a phoenix. Rubeus Hagrid shows up to tell Dumbledore that Harry is innocent and he responds that he knows that. Dumbledore asks Harry if he has anything to tell him but even though he had lots of things he say, he doesn't say any of it. The news that two new people are Petrified causes a panic throughout the school. Draco decides he is still going to stay for the Christmas holidays. Harry, Ron and Hermione find that suspicious and sign up to stay too.
The holidays commence and the Polyjuice Potion is nearly ready. Hermione tells Harry and Ron to get a piece of Crabbe and Goyle's hair so they can transform into them to get close to Draco. They knock them out using a Sleeping Draught and Hermione gets Millicent Bulstrode's hair. During their transformation however, Hermione discovers it has taken the hair of Bulstrode's hair and transforms into a human/cat hybrid instead.
Harry and Ron continue on their own. In the Slytherin common room, they ask Draco things about the Chamber of Secrets to find out if he is involved. Draco isn't involved and he isn't the Heir of Slytherin, but he does tell Harry and Ron the Chamber of Secrets was first opened fifthy years ago and a student was killed. Harry and Ron go back to Hermione to tell her and take her the Hospital Wing.
