Harry Potter Books Wiki

The Standard Book of Spells are a series of books which range from Grade 1 to Grade 6. They are written by Miranda Goshawk and cover a wide variety of spells, specialising in Charms. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry students have to get one of these books every year in order to learn.[1][2]

They appear throughout the Harry Potter book series.

About[]

These books are about charms and other kind of spells. Each volume is named according to a grade which correlates with a school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The book is used in more than one subject, including the subjects of Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts. First years bring Grade 1, second years have Grade 2 and so on.[1][2] They are sold at Flourish and Blotts.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows doesn't show what the seventh year at Hogwarts is like so it is unverified whether the collection has a Grade 7. However, if you follow the pattern, where the other school years have an edition which correlates with them, it is very likely there is a Grade 7.
