Tom is a character in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He is the landlord of the Leaky Cauldron.
Biography[]
In July 1991, Tom welcomed Rubeus Hagrid when he arrived at the Leaky Cauldron and offered to make him his usual drink, but Hagrid declined because he was taking Harry Potter shopping. Tom was starstruck when he saw Harry and tearfully greeted him, saying it was an honour but Harry had no idea what to say.[1]
In August 1993, Tom tended to Cornelius Fudge while he waited for Harry Potter to arrive at the Leaky Cauldron. He showed Fudge to a private parlour. Fudge later found Tom to ask if he had a room for Harry to stay in until September. Because Sirius Black had escaped, Fudge wanted him to keep an eye on Harry. He took Harry's luggage to a room and let Hedwig in. He told Harry to ask if he needed anything.[2]
On 31 August, Tom put three tables together in the parlour for Harry, Hermione Granger and the Weasley family who had a five-course dinner.[3] The next day, Tom woke Harry up and gave him a cup of tea.[4]
