This character is a Muggle and the grandmother of Voldemort.

History[]

In around the early twentieth century, she married Thomas Riddle and had a son, Tom Riddle. They were very rich and lived at Riddle House in Little Hangleton. They were considered snobby and rude. In 1925, her son was given a Love Potion by a witch, Merope Gaunt and eloped to her surprise. In 1926, Tom returned when the effect faded off, leaving Merope with their son, Tom Jnr. who was brought up in an orphanage when she died.

In August 1944, Mary was having dinner with her husband and son in the drawing room. Her estranged grandson, Tom Jnr. had tracked down their location and entered the house. He murdered her and her family with the Killing Curse. The maid found her body in the morning, with her gardener Frank Bryce getting wrongfully arrested for her murder. She was buried with her husband and son in Little Hangleton cemetery.[1]
