- "The blood of a unicorn will keep you alive, even if you are an inch from death, but at a terrible price. You have slain something pure and defenceless to save yourself and you will have but a half life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips."
- — the price of unicorn blood.[src]
Unicorn blood is a shiny, silver substance in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. If the blood of the unicorn is drunk, it will keep a dying person alive. However, killing a unicorn curses the drinker with a half-life.
About[]
Unicorn blood is a potion ingredient. One known potion it is used in is the rudimentary body potion.[2]
History[]
Quirinus Quirrell began drinking the blood of unicorns to sustain his life when he was possessed by Voldemort. He killed two unicorns. The disappearances were noticed by Rubeus Hagrid who had several students including Harry Potter search for the second unicorn. Harry found him drinking the dead unicorn's blood that evening.[1]
