Wimbourne Wasps are a Quidditch team that play in the British and Irish Quidditch League. Fans of the Wasps are called "Stingers" and per tradition, they like to buzz loudly at opposing Chasers when they are taking a penalty to distract them. They have a rivarly with the Appleby Arrows.[1]
Uniform[]
Wimbourne Wasps' players wear yellow and black horizontally striped robes with a wasp on their chest.[1]
History[]
Founded in the 1312 under a different name, they were one of thirteen teams in the country that were invited to join the the British and Irish Quidditch League in 1674.[1]
In the mid-seventeeth century, they adopted their current name after a game in which a Beater hit a wasps' nest out of a nearby tree toward the Seeker of the Appleby Arrows. The Wasps won after the Arrows' player, who was badly hurt, had to retire from the game. They then considered the wasp to be good luck and adopted it for their embelm.[1]
The Wasps have won eighteen League Cups and have been semifinalists at the European Cup twice.[1]
Ludo Bagman was the best Beater they ever had.[2]
